REVISED EDITION: 2/2/2012
All Huntington Estates Homeowners: While many of us remain distressed by the manner and speed with which the District is pursuing the redistricting, we also realize that losingHighlands as our elementary school is a real possibility. We are disappointed that our requests not to divide Huntington Estates haven't been heeded and understand that these changes affect everyone differently and that everyone has their own opinion of what is transpiring. Everyone has the opportunity to express their opinions or concerns to theSchool District.
In our effort to keep you informed and updated, below is a summary regarding the redistricting:
Map number 6 came out Jan. 25th and contains the most recent changes. Specifically related to Huntington Estates, it divides our subdivision along Naper Blvd.creating an East and West boundary. As mentioned above, we as individuals and as a group, have expressed to the ECS (Enrollment Capacity Study), School Board and District Administration our concern for dividing Huntington Estates. If you are West of Naper Blvd., your schools do not change. If you are East of Naper Blvd., map 6 has these residents going to Meadow Glens Elementary, Kennedy Jr. High and Central High School. This proposal also includes, The Knolls of Huntington, Huntington Ridge, SW Green trails and Collegewood subdivisions. At the ECS meeting Jan. 25th map 6 was voted on as the one to take forward for public comment. All residents have the opportunity to comment at any of the public forums being held at each Jr. High School. See below for the dates, time and format. NOTE - Thursday, FEB. 2 this forum will be held at Kennedy Jr. High. Attached is the map 6 pdf file. In addition, below is the URL for map 6. Each provides answers to Frequently Asked Question's of grandfathering, building construction, All Day Kindergarten and Common Core Standards. We encourage everyone to review all information about redistricting and to take advantage of their opportunity to speak at the public forums. Comments to us can be sent to HEBTRD203@gmail.com. We thank those who have sent their comments thus far. Regards, John Mesarchik Mike Considine Laura Anderson PUBLIC FORUM SCHEDULE
